U.S. Army Sgt. Chris Workman
A new flagpole monument in the memorial garden of St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Boise honors U.S. Army Sgt. Chris J. Workman, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan in April.
All military service personnel and veterans are invited to a dedication ceremony and luncheon at 11:30 a.m. next Sunday, which is Veterans Day.
Workman, 33, grew up in Rupert and lived in Boise a few years ago. He was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division?s 25th Combat Aviation Brigade at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii.
The memorial was erected by Workman's family and friends, and a scholarship fund was created in his memory. St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church is at 2618 W. Bannock St. in Boise.
