Tarleton Outdoor Pursuits takes rock climbing trip to Penitentiary ...

Tarleton?s Outdoor Pursuits program will venture to Mineral Wells Saturday for a day of rock climbing.

According to program coordinator David Meyers, students of all levels of climbing ability have the opportunity to join supervisor Craig Warren at Penitentiary Hollow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where climbing equipment and support will be provided by qualified Tarleton staff.

Meyers also said that students will be responsible for their own food and transportation, but Tarleton will supply harnesses, ropes, and climbing assistance for a $10 fee. Currently, about 5 students are signed up for the event, but registration remains open until 6 p.m. March 27.

Students interested in attending can contact Meyers in the Outdoor Pursuits office at 254-968-9910, or sign up at the checkout center located at the rear of the Tarleton Rec Center. Further details will be available at the pre-trip meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 27.
